‘ASMITAA,' meaning pride and self-respect, is an independent initiative dedicated to digitally archiving, documenting, displaying and disseminating knowledge about India's timeless textiles, much of which remains unseen and underlying in family closets across the country. These textiles are more than objects of art; they are woven expressions of India's rich craftsmanship, culture, tradition, and personal history.

The acronym ‘ASMITAA’ stands for ‘A Stage for the Manifestation of Indian Textile Arts & Artefacts,’ a name that truly reflects our vision.

At ASMITAA, we are dedicated to preserving both textiles and the stories they carry, ensuring they are not only appreciated for their beauty but also valued for their deep cultural and emotional significance. By intertwining technical expertise with a strong commitment to heritage conservation, we strive to create a living bridge between past and present - allowing families, communities, and future generations to stay connected with their roots.

Through our digital platform, ASMITAA offers the world an unparalleled repository of India's textile heritage, bringing these exquisite pieces to life in a way that is vivid, accessible and deeply meaningful.
